La doppia faccia dell’Australia in 3 facce – The double face of Australia in three faces

E a stare insieme.

Ho preso l’ecstasi ieri sera. Poi di nuovo. È divertente. Con quella si che vivi bene. Enjoy guys, enjoy your life.

Ho sognato a lungo quelle scene devastanti. Ho iniziato a fumare seriamente.

Perché posso soddisfare i miei impulsi, i miei istinti, i miei piaceri sessuali, serali, banali.

My name is Ashley and I love to have sex. I do not like the love. Or maybe I like it in general, but it is too hard to manage. I have a five year old daughter. I had just turned twenty when I got pregnant. I love her with all of myself, but I think it is not the result of that feeling so much declaimed. I am Australian. My house is in a small country town in Victoria; my baby is there and the father lives in the same area.

I came to Melbourne to find a job, but here in the hostel, commit myself to seeking, is really difficult: there are too many cute guys. There are too many guys in general. And I do not sleep during the night. And in the morning I do not wake up. And when I wake up I still want to be with him, the man of the previous night, to enjoy him until the end before he leaves, before I tie me to someone else. Sophie looked puzzled this morning, and I think I know why: I woke up with a girl in my bed and she saw me. She slept right in front of us. She observed clinging and thought back to all those times I kissed her on the cheek in the morning and I invited her to spend the evening with me. And to be together. Until the end. She thought I was joking. I think she just realized it was not like this. I think she realized that I love to have sex and no matter with who. I can not explain why I like both men and women; maybe I just need someone beside me.

The other people here in the hostel think that I am cool. They don’t think that I am pretty, but if I spend the nights like this I show that I know how to do it, that I know how to enjoy life. Today I hugged her, Sophie. In that piercing look so early in the morning, I showed my self neked more than all the times that I got undressed in front of someone. She saw me during this days with the most disparate people. I hugged her because in that piercing look I felt loved. I expected a judgment, or a sick smile, however there has not been. I felt good. I believe that love, no matter how difficult, is really nice. I believe that loving someone is taking care of him. And the same should apply to themselves: take care of what we are and the body we have. I thought about my abitude to go with anyone,I stop to reflect watching that eyes and I realized that in the end, what makes me feel good in the middle of the sheets known by many, is a caress. Is the gesture of someone that everytimes I hope secretly remains next to me.
My name is Ashley and I love to  have sex. I thought at that enjoy repeated and to the smiles that I never see in the next hours. Perhaps what makes me feel good is not so far. Perhaps it was next to me for so long and I never had the courage to look at that. Maybe I should learn that in life you must choose before to hope. You need to stop before you start. Is necessary to fully experience something that matters and be able to give up something that perhaps is not so well.

My name is Josh and I can not open my eyes for two hours. They are more than ever heavy this morning. Maybe it’s not even really morning: I can not understand how much time has passed since I lie here, I can not remember when I returned home, or how. And I do not even try to remember. It’s too tiring. I remember well that I enjoyed, though: I spent all the money in my pocket, but when you use it to have fun, are never spent badly. I do not regret it and I do not mind. I took ecstasy last night. Then again. It is funny. With that is that good living. Enjoy guys, enjoy your life. Life is one, and when you go bust so that you can not wake up unhappy. The only problem is that now I can not open my eyes: are few hours that I am lying on the couch and I also think that I will still stay here. But I think I am thirsty. I’m not hungry. Or maybe yes. But first of all I am thirsty. I realized especially now: Sophie came from the TV room door and looked at me. Then she sat beside me, wrapped my hair from my forehead and asked me how I was. It was then that I realized that I was too parched and chapped lips. She asked me before that I could said something I wanted water. I said yes. I was not alone last night. At the party it was full of people, but I do not speak in general: I say that I was not alone while I was dancing in the crowded floor. I say that I was not alone in the taxi as we went down there and I was not alone returning to the hostel this morning.

Now, however, I am alone. I never moved from here and no one came to see me. I heard two friends called for dinner, so I think it is now very late. I spent more time than I thought. In all these hours, still and shocked, none of the friends on whose behalf every day since I came here showed up. They are still my best friends. They are still my family here in Australia, but today I was thirsty. I just drank a glass of water thinking about the girl who had just offered me and I started to open my eyes, here, on the sofa. Then I opened them on my friends, on life and on what really matters in a relationship to which we want to give the weight of a family relationship.images-9

My name Deran, and last night I slept on a step. I arrived in Australia when I was 15 yo. On a ship. From Kuwait is a long journey, but it was not the time to scare me: we were in the middle of the ocean, the sea, the real one, when the ship on which we were aboard was sinking. It started to go under, inch by inch, and with it all of us. 250 people blended in a vortex of waves. 114 there are no more. 114 souls killed by false hopes. Destroyed in expectation of relief. I have long dreamed of the devastating scenes. I closed my eyes every night, for hours, reliving those absurd moments. I cut myself. I cut my arms alone every night. I looked at my blood and I’ve been better. It made me feel good. I saw their blood and their cries expand into the sea. Then I saw mine and I felt less guilty for having survived. I arrived in Melbourne and I started to work like a chef. When I lost my job the government begun to send me some money: $400 every two weeks. I started smoking seriously. I tried the synthetic marijuana the first time when I was 15, just arrived. Now I’m 18 and I have spent every penny sent to me by the State to buy this stuff that excites me. It makes me feel good I think. I left my house: I can not pay it anymore. I am living on the street for almost a month and I do not know if I will ever change it: my brain is no longer able to say “no” to that substance. This drug has just the name in common with the normal mariuana: it is actually a chemical. Sophie approached me one afternoon. I was making paper boats. She asked me if I could teach her. She came back the next day and again. One evening she paid me one night in the hostel: I needed to take a shower and get changed and sleep in a real bed. I do not like to accept aid: only acune people, sometimes. I went there and I even shaved. The next morning I woke up at 5am: I can not sleep more than a few hours. I went back to the same place, on the usual step. The next night, the police arrived at the street. They took me to the prison for three days: I take the money from the government and this prevents me from wandering on the streets. But I have not learned the lesson: just come out of there I returned on the same sidewalk. Sophie was strong with me: I said that I could not stop buying and smoking synthetic mariuana. I told her that I needed. She did not believe in that. But she believed in me.

My name is Deran, and last night I slept on a step. For the last time.

I got the money from the government and I did not spend it in drug as usual. I went back to Geelong, where I lived and I paid two weeks rent. I changed clothes and went to look for a job.

These are three of the many, countless experiences in these months where Australians, in the emergence of negative aspects, have glimpsed a corner of paradise.

When I ask to the guys that I meet why they came down here, in more or less every  answer im given it emerges always an underlying desire for freedom. I feel free because I can drug me, because I’m away from my parents, because I can get high every night, because I earn well and I can spend what I want, because I can live and enjoy every moment. Because I can satisfy my impulses, my instincts, my sexual, evening, trivial pleasures.

The choice of many people to come to Australia is in wanting to leave the life, the job, the home routine and delve into a new adventure in search of highs and happiness. But freedom is not in the other side of the world, is not in the bed consumed in secret, is not in the euphoria of undisclosed secrets. It is not in the solitude of daily choices, or in the  days spent in companies just found. It is not in endless wandering with eyes open on a land to be discovered, or in a tablet that takes you to explore every time a new world. Freedom is curled up inside of us. This is why it can belong to who can not move from a hospital bed, or to who is locked up in a cell. The people that I met speak about a freedom that they enjoy but that actually push themselves into a confusion that leads to dismiss the responsible choice of what we really want. And someone with time one notices. He realizes he is living in the paradise of those who think that joy is the fruit of money and lightness in responsibilities. I do not condemn the individual experiences. Not everything is negative in the small and big decisions of who comes down here, but what escapes is the direction. Australia offers something that other countries do not have and perhaps what appears a paradise, it can really be, but it is not an objective feature of this continent. It praised the beauty and sucked is enclosed in a place at the end of this trip, but everything has its effect wears off if you do not know how to handle it. The trained legs are not useful  if you do not know on which way to make them win a race. The best materials for a building are useless if you don’t know what and how to build. The victories on the habits, fears, betting, distances, on internal and external inhibitions, they lose their power if you do not know where and how to orient this freedom that you won. The feel in control of every impulsive choice does not reflect the true freedom. The doors that Australia open and that attract many people have a long driveway to go to be crossed. If you just go in the middle of this adventure without a reason, you will not know how and where to go. Here is the courage, here is the freedom. There is the key of who stays and who goes: choose and be masters of themselves to the point of advance without mistakes and false steps even when you stumble badly. What I discovered, and I’ve seen in many guys that I met is that even here, on the other side of the world, you can feel dispersed and without a goal: If you did not learn to understand what really matters to you, what you can define a full stop, what makes you feel good and makes you proud to go to bed at night, then you will
not be able to really feel good wherever you are; you will be able to distract you, you will experience strong emotions, but always feel that something is missing. The visa will expire, things will change, and when will vanish all the usual distractions you will feel lost, again. If you really want to fulfill yourself in life without only letting the days pass quickly, you have to understand that the paradise they praised is not really a place to find it, but it belongs to you and the way you move every day. Personally I think there are much more beautiful countries to visit and much more interesting cultures to discover. Australia gives me a feeling of emptiness, as if it were full of places and people who lack a history, a tradition. Living happy to feel good, but they lack the strength of true joy that comes from the face of who had a pain, an hard, a strong experience and smiles showing the power of that happiness exploding from inside especially when it seems that everything goes wrong. I would like that this continent still white was filled with something more. And this is perhaps the best thing about being here: the possibility of building on land where only pose wooden huts. I would like all the people I met, together with me, they looked each other in the eyes and asked themselves what really matters at the end. We are all united by a common similar experience. Backpakers of the world. It is common in this solitude that is the true strength and wealth of being here. The ability to combine everything we have, our passions, our stories from different countries and get to work. And, like this the distance from parents will be wealth, the knapsack on his back and shared food will teach how to love, drugs offered by friends seem ridiculous weaknesses. The money to play at the casino you will prefer not to duplicate them, but enjoy every day to decide how to spend the only ones you have. People who walk with you will no longer afraid of falling because certain that that little progress daily rests on the determination, on mutual aid without conditions and on Love, and that is the first, only real proof that we know where to go and we are truly free.

  1. Hi. I see that you don’t update your page too often. I know that writing posts is boring and time consuming.
But did you know that there is a tool that allows you to create new articles using existing content (from article directories
or other pages from your niche)? And it does it very well.
The new posts are unique and pass the copyscape test.
Search in google and try: miftolo’s tools

    Ciao!
